Uploading a 10MB photo to a server, waiting for it to process, and then downloading the result is slow and wasteful — especially on mobile. PhotoFlip's cropper runs entirely in your browser, so a crop operation completes in a fraction of a second. There is no upload queue, no server-side rate limit, and no reason to worry about where your image ends up. We can't see it because it never leaves your device.
Under the hood we use the react-easy-crop component, which supports touch gestures on mobile and mouse drag on desktop. The crop is applied to a canvas element at the original resolution — so a crop from a 4000×3000 photo produces a 4000×3000 output, not a downscaled preview.
Imagine a 3×3 grid over your photo. Align subjects along the intersections for balanced compositions.
Use 1:1 for Instagram feed, 9:16 for Stories/Reels/TikTok, 16:9 for YouTube and desktop video.
Don't crop too tight against faces or products. A little space around the subject looks professional.
Remove unwanted edges first, then resize to your target dimensions — the result will be sharper.

No. Cropping runs entirely in your browser. Your photo never leaves your device, which makes it instant and private.
Free-form, 1:1 (square), 4:3, 3:4, 16:9, 9:16 (vertical video), 3:2, and 2:3. You can also pick social-media presets like Instagram Story or YouTube Thumbnail.
Cropping does not reduce quality — it simply removes pixels outside the selection. Choose PNG for lossless output, or JPG/WebP with high quality for a smaller file.
This tool outputs rectangular crops. For circular avatars, crop to a 1:1 square first, then use a profile-picture maker to mask the corners. Most platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn) auto-circle-mask square uploads.
Rotation is not part of this tool yet. Tip: most cropping use cases are straightforward, but if you need rotation or straightening, export the crop then run it through a full editor.

The crop preserves the selected region at its native resolution. To also resize, crop here first then open the result in the Image Resizer.
